Pawn shops frequently don’t make the press: people shy away from discussing their financial concerns. These are typically private matters which people don’t share. That’s why it’s exceptional to see a celebrity actor like Terry Crews talking about it. He is recently quoted as saying:
““After retiring from the NFL, I struggled to get to the next level where I wanted to be. I tried and failed many times to secure a job in entertainment, but there was no luck. And then my wife’s wedding ring took its fourth trip to the pawn shop. When that happened, she told me maybe it’s time you widen the search and do anything that could genuinely put food on the table”
Crews has a current estimated net worth of $25 million, but it wasn’t always that way. Between the end of his NFL career and his success as an actor came some setbacks. It may not be glamorous to pawn a wedding ring it did do one thing: buy time. And sometimes that’s all it takes to reach the next step up.
These kinds of stories are common to pawnbrokers. We help clients get their feet under them until they can move on.
