Most people don’t think of pawn shops and charity in the same sentence: but maybe they should. One Canadian pawnbroker has donated over $45,000 in support of his local Women’s Shelter. The pawn shop hosts an annual charity auction which sees a pair of custom diamond earrings sold off with the proceeds supporting the shelter. Each year the studs are different, with the 2022 winner receiving a pair of 1.22 carat studs appraised at $7,900.
Premier Jewellery and Loans of Kelowna, BC has been partnering with a local media outlet to auction custom diamond earrings. Their most recent charity auction has put a capstone on over $45,000 donated in the last 7 years. The shop plans to return for another event in December of 2023.
